From Scooteria Byron to Motor Renter: Why We Rebranded

If you've rented a motorbike in Byron Bay or booked a vehicle through Scooteria Byron, you've been part of our journey from the start. But as our business evolved, it became clear that our name needed to evolve with it. We’re excited to reintroduce ourselves as Motor Renter—your trusted local provider for car and motorbike rentals in Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers.

Why We Changed Our Name

We launched Scooteria Byron with the intention of offering scooter hire and motorbike rentals to locals and travelers exploring the Byron Shire. But pretty quickly, we noticed a few things:

1. High demand for cars: More and more customers were asking for affordable car rentals—from small hatchbacks to family-friendly sedans for exploring the hinterland and coastline.

2. Motorbikes > Scooters: While we expected scooters to be the star of the show, it turned out motorbike rentals were far more popular than scooters.

3. Licensing confusion: Many people were requesting 50cc scooters, which in some states can be ridden with just a car licence. However, in New South Wales (NSW), a motorcycle licence is required—even for 50cc scooters. This led to confusion and limited who we could rent scooters to.

We realized that the name Scooteria was no longer accurately representing what we offer—or where we’re headed.

Welcome to Motor Renter

We chose the name Motor Renter because it reflects what we do now and where we're going: renting all kinds of vehicles with motors—including cars, motorbikes, scooters, and potentially vans, utes, and even trucks or buses in the future.

This new name is:

• Easier to understand

• Clearer for search engines (hello, Google!)

• And more inclusive of the full range of vehicle rental services in Byron Bay and beyond

We’re still based in Ocean Shores, NSW, and we still provide convenient pickup and drop-off options across Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads, Mullumbimby, and the wider Northern Rivers region.
